6 months of crystal meth. withdrawl help?

Question: 6 months of crystal meth. withdrawl help?

(Posted by: black_metal_betty on 2010-04-08 21:13:56)

My friend is 15 years old, and is just now starting to come off of crystal meth. She used almost daily, up until a few weeks ago. She never told me exactly how she got it... But she would call me at night, hysterical, talking about how happy she was. She's also bipolar, so that just adds to the whole "crappy withdrawl " thing. but, i wanted to know what to expect, while she's coming down. Is there anything i can do to help her? I don't wanna lose another friend to drugs...

Just be there for her and try not to judge. Also I hope she is getting professional help to stop? If she isn't you should really try to convince her to. ALSO be warned "once an addict always an addict " she could fall back into drugs again if she doesn't get help for the real reason she used drugs in the first place.

I would suggest taking her to your local hospital, because they can give her medications to help with the withdrawals. It is very difficult to stop using drugs without proper help and guidance. She should be in a program so she can talk to other people who understand what she is going through (Narcotics Anonymous) I will post a link to their website - It is awesome that she wants to stop using, but she needs to get help. na.org/

Support her and encourage her to quit. Whatever you do, don't not value her friendship because she does drugs this is a time when she needs your friendship the most. I used dope for 5 years and lost every friend I had it was the loneliest time of my life. The fun she is having now will soon shatter and she will come crawling to you and no matter how pathetic she looks or seems just be her friend, trust me it helps. You find out who your real friends are when you hit rock bottom.

The addiction of meth is mental rather than physical. Meaning heroin addicts and alcoholics get violently ill. Their bodies react without it. However, meth is not like that. There are no withdrawals by definition. One may get cranky and irritable, that is from sleep deprevation. So generally they sleep, a lot. When they're not sleeping they are eating. It's just the body's way of replenishing whatever it was deprived of.
